Protect-IP-Act Perspective
With the Protect-IP-Act, the free-enterprise marketplace finds itself under attack again! This time by The Protect Intellectual Property Act (S.968), more commonly known as Protect-IP-Act.
Innovations like Kindle, iPad, MP3, and for that matter, hundreds if not thousands of other results from some of the greatest dreamers ever to walk the earth, are on the verge of extinction if the government was permitted to “protect” our “intellectual property” in the way it suits just a handful of “elite” special interests!
Have you noticed the only time Hollywood elites become concerned about censorship, about our “freedom of speech” or protecting intellectual property, is when they talk? Have you noticed they ALWAYS attack our freedom of speech, our freedom to pursue our own prosperity by using our own intellectual gifts and talents, is when it affects their own pocketbook?
Of course, you would never catch them actually admitting that they are directly promoting censorship in the marketplace or elsewhere. It’s called “eliminating the competition” in a marketplace driven by the freedom of creativity, the pursuit of personal excellence, and the hunger to follow one’s own dream. This Protect-IP-Act does just that!
But wait! Isn’t that what the Hollywood elites and liberal politicians in general are all about? You would never catch them admitting they don’t really give two cents about our own pursuit of liberty when they feel we might be infringing on their own piece of the pie . It’s the typical “ we got ours…and we don’t want you to get yours ” attitude!
This Protect-IP-Act MUST BE STOPPED! I’m not someone who supports class warfare. But I am someone who is sick and tired of having government seize control of our freedoms in this country, our right to pursue our own dreams through the marketplace of free enterprise, the backbone of living free!
Are you paying attention, America? Our liberties of freedom are slowly disappearing from right under our feet by absurd bills like this Protect-IP-Act taking on the façade of great soundbites and positively resonating titles as in Protect Intellectual Property!
The very title of this otherwise absurd Protect-IP-Act bill speaks volumes of how our politicians present, promote and pass all kinds of legislation targeted at eroding our liberty of taking part in some form of a free marketplace. Independence and liberties as our ancestors had envisioned are deteriorating, yet most of us dare not raise a finger in protest.
Look at the words in the title of the bill: Protect- IP-Act and Intellectual Property. On the surface, the average citizen out on the streets takes a quick look, listens in passing to the media onslaught, and assumes it must be a great thing to get behind and support.
Protecting (my) intellectual property sounds like a wonderful thing. But just because some legislature or interest group uses buzz words that seem to “Protect” my “intellectual property” as in this absurd Protect-IP-Act doesn’t mean it’s not bent on assaulting more than protecting us.
This lack of realization is why our privacy, liberties, and some aspects of a free marketplace have already disappeared. It doesn’t mean it’s not designed to tighten the noose that has been wrapped around our throats for some time now, and getting tighter!
When will enough be enough? When will “We, the People” start caring for the lost freedom[s] we once enjoyed in a free marketplace, the liberty of expressing our intellectual property the way we see fit without having some elitist telling us we can’t because it infringes on his or her own intellectual property rights.
Bringing America back to the once “shinning light on a hill” President Reagan spoke of, to which other nations once looked with envy, can begin by killing this Protect-IP-Act in its tracks!
If not us, who will cry when there is no free marketplace, no free America left? Where else in the world will we be able to go to have freedom of speech instead of censorship? The Protect-IP-Act is just another step down an already slippery slope.
If you haven’t done so, do something for you now. Simply copy and paste this petition below that has been put together by those who care about freedom, independence, protecting liberty, intellectual property from being censored and controlled by the few, and privacy. E-mail, or stop by and drop it off to your Congressman and State Senator… Now …or click here to take immediate action before the Protect-IP-Act passes and there’s nothing left to cry over.
Petition:
I am writing to you as a voter in your district. I urge you to vote “no” on cloture for S. 968, the PROTECT-IP-Act, on Jan. 24th. The PROTECT-IP-Act is dangerous, ineffective, and short-sighted. It does not deserve floor consideration. I urge my representative to vote “no” on SOPA, the corresponding House bill.
Over coming days you’ll be hearing from the many businesses, advocacy organizations, and ordinary Americans who oppose this legislation because of the myriad ways in which it will stifle free speech and innovation. We hope you’ll take our concerns to heart and oppose this legislation by voting “no” on cloture.
